Plaże i nadmorskie atrakcje Gdańska, czyli przewodnik na idealne wakacyjne dni

This year's summer spoils us with high temperatures, and Gdańsk - as a real paradise for lovers of sunbathing and active recreation - keeps pace with it. Wide, sandy beaches, including Jelitkowo, Brzeźno, Stogi and Sobieszewo, offer not only ideal conditions for rest by the sea, but also numerous attractions in the immediate vicinity. Picturesque promenades, parks, historical monuments and cultural events are waiting to be discovered - just in time for an inspiring summer adventure.

From morning walks along the shore, jogging, beach volleyball, through water sports and relaxing afternoons listening to the sounds of the waves, to evening events on the beach - in Gdańsk you will find much, maybe even everything you need to spend an unforgettable holiday.

And although I am sure why it is the perfect place for holiday relaxation and adventure, I encourage you to find out for yourself!

Gdańsk beaches - perfect for active people and those looking for relaxation

Summer holidays are strongly associated with the image of water, sun and good fun, and Gdańsk's beaches offer unique opportunities to spend time on the Baltic Sea.

If you are wondering where to go and what to do, here are some suggestions:

  • Stogi Beach – subjectively – my favorite beach (apart from Sobieszewo) :) It's a really good place for families with children and lovers of active recreation. It is worth paying attention to the wide, sandy spaces and gentle descent to the sea, which will be especially appreciated by parents, as children can safely play in the sand and water. While walking along the shore, it is worth collecting shells and amber, which are the natural treasures of this area.

And all those who value more naturalness, going towards Górki Zachodnie, will find... a nudist beach, where unnecessary clothes do not restrict movement ;)

  • Beach in Brzeźno - one of the most popular beaches in Gdańsk, ideal for lovers of both sunbathing and water activities. You can rent here, among others, jet skis and use the beach volleyball courts. It is also worth visiting one of the local restaurants serving fresh fish to feel the true Baltic atmosphere.
  • Jelitkowo - located between Sopot and Gdańsk's Przymorze district, it is an ideal place for relaxation, physical activity and family fun. In addition to swimming in the sea, you can try your hand at frisbee or badminton. The offer of restaurants and bars is also satisfactory - I encourage you to try the fish at the Karmazyn Bar, which has been located there for many years. My guests never complain :)
  • Sobieszewska Island - an excellent choice for those looking for peace and closeness to nature. The beach is much less frequented than, for example, Jelitkowo and is ideal for long walks along the coast, bird watching and relaxation away from the hustle and bustle of the city. In Sobieszewo you can fully relax, enjoying the silence, beautiful landscapes and the rippling waters of the Baltic Sea.

Regardless of whether you are looking for physical activity, peace or family fun, the wide range of Gdańsk beaches will certainly meet your expectations.

Beach activities

And if you are already in Gdańsk and wondering what to do on the beach, I have a few suggestions for you :)

SUP board

I have the impression that SUP boards are becoming more and more common - both at the seaside and on lakes, and also... on social media. And it's no wonder - this form of activity involves many muscle groups, and rowing and maintaining balance strengthens our body - both the muscles of the arms, torso, legs and buttocks. These benefits certainly include relaxation and pleasure from riding the waves and time spent listening to the sounds of nature.

On the beach in Brzeźno you will find a rental shop and instructors ready to help you with training and learning how to sup. Although I didn't have the pleasure to work with them personally, I heard a lot of good things about their professional approach.

Balloon volleyball

It's worth taking towels and balloons with you to the beach to play a family balloon volleyball tournament, which is a great way to spend time together. Just inflate the balloons and bounce them with towels or in a mutually agreed way - after all, each family or group of friends has its own customs and builds its own memories :)

My experience shows that especially warm days go well with balloons... filled with water - the "bullets" prepared in this way, bounced by the players, eventually crash on one of the participants, causing a wave of laughter and a nice refreshment :D

Sports activities

Gdańsk is a paradise for beach sports enthusiasts. You will find beach volleyball courts here, e.g. in Brzeźno and Jelitkowo, and places to play frisbee. This is an ideal option for having fun together, but also for integration with other players. Nothing unites as strongly as a common goal and sports emotions! Seaside sunrises are a time for yoga and fitness activities. Clean air, the sound of the sea and soft sand create perfect conditions for meditation and exercise outside the four walls of the gym or home.

Children's games

Although I am a supporter of inspiring children by setting an example and creating opportunities for them to stimulate their imagination and look for opportunities to have fun, Gdańsk's beaches also offer many "ready-made" attractions. The youngest will find playgrounds, trampolines and inflatables, among others. in Jelitkowo, or a rope park at the entrance to the beach in Brzeźno.

However, it is worth all of us reminding ourselves that sand is the perfect material for building castles and fortresses, but also sea monsters, space rockets and whatever our imagination desires, and the wind not only cools us down, but also allows kites to fly :) Such fun activities together They will certainly bring children a lot of joy and stimulate their creativity.

Walking and cycling trips

The promenade connecting Gdańsk Brzeźno with Sopot is an excellent route for walks, roller-skating trips and bicycle rides. If you don't have your own, use the Mevo network of bicycles with assistance available in Tricity. Their advantage is that we can find them in many places near the beaches and we can also leave them in many places, not limited to just circling the car park.

Blue flag – the domain of Tricity beaches

Regular visitors of guarded swimming areas, both inland and sea, probably know the signs located next to lifeguards. We all hope that a white flag will fly on the beach, signaling that it is safe to swim.

The Blue Flag has no connection with the current swimming conditions on the beach. It is one of the most recognizable eco-labels in the world, i.e. awards granted by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) based in Copenhagen, Denmark.

In the 2024 season, this prestigious distinction was awarded to facilities in 51 countries, including:

  • Gdańsk Stogi bathing resort,
  • Gdańsk Sobieszewo bathing resort,
  • Sopot Kamienny Potok-Koliba bathing resort.

When planning your holiday, it is worth taking this distinction into account :)

Let's take care of summer memories

I hope that today's article has awakened your summer longing for golden sand, salty water, waves and rest. I encourage you to discover the charm of Gdańsk, where you can relax by the sea, take a walk and try activities on water and on land. Come and feel the unique atmosphere of this seaside city!
