Do you remember which trip I invited you on last week? If not entirely, and you are hungry for sensations, I encourage you to follow the description of the cruise on our blog. I will introduce you to this story briefly. At that time, we sailed in a Galar, a replica of Polish river boats widespread in the 18th century, used for single transport of goods, i.e. salt, grain, soap and lime. On board, along with other daredevils, I crossed the waters of the Motława and Nowa Motława, and we saw Gdansk from a completely different, noteworthy, perspective.

When I came home from a Galar cruise around Gdańsk, the first thing that came to my mind was... check out other cruises! I assumed that since I had learned a lot about the places I know, I would certainly learn even more about the shipyard, which I had known to a much lesser extent in the past. I searched for a cruise, booked a seat and... I was not disappointed!
A lot happened during the one hour trip. The cruise is an amazing opportunity to see the work of the shipyards and shipbuilders from the inside. Few of us have had the opportunity to admire what cannot be seen from land before. Leaving the Imperial Shipyard, we enter a slightly different world, full of surprises, traditions, emphasizing the beauty of technology and the experience of generations of Gdańsk boatbuilders and engineers at every step.

Luxury yachts in Sunreef, built on individual orders for astronomical amounts, the historic Gdańsk Shipyard, from which comes the "Solidarity", which plays a significant role in our modern history, works all year round without any stops, the Repair Shipyard - a guarantee of speed and quality on the shipyard world map, is just a foretaste of what we will see. We will also sail to the docks - a product of technical thought that has been used for decades, the symbol of the city - numerous cranes, i.e. port cranes leaning over the water. We will pass by small, medium and huge ships and ships built for the Polish Navy. We will pass overhead cranes, ramps, a heat and power plant and the former sea post... A real dizziness, and all this is available at your fingertips in all its glory.

Although, to paraphrase the words of a popular sea chant, it is necessary
a rum that will buzz your head so that the whole world has meaning, then you will be happy to hear sea stories,
the captain of the galara proves that sparkling water, distributed to all participants of the voyage, can suffice, and we will listen to his words with unflagging interest. Galar flows around the Ostrów Island, artificially created in the rafting times. In the process, the helmsman spins a story, involving over several dozen historical objects, ships being renovated today, the specter of a crisis and hopes for the future. Even despite the lack of technical education, it is easy to understand the uniqueness of a place, and the perspective of water greatly enhances this impression. Especially when we realize that it is not only formulas prepared earlier by the captain, but a living story, full of steam, grease and clatter of tools, in which there are often inclusions, about what we could see yesterday, at what stage were the works a week ago, which ship spent many years in the shipyard, and which will be cleared by the Border Guard in a moment. This dynamic is what sets a good live story apart from being faced with facts only on paper.
The Galar cruise around the Shipyard made a huge impression on me and made me believe that I live in an amazing city, full of great history and energy, so I wholeheartedly encourage you to give it a try! The rest - I'm not the only one. Trip Advisor users confirm my opinion in their comments.

... I left myself two alternative cruises, which I have no doubt will be a bull's eye. The first is a variant of a trip around Gdańsk, but with the sun setting against the background of the cranes - an ideal proposition for a romantic date or a photographic outdoor session. And the second - well - I'm already rubbing my hands. A night-time cruise around the Shipyard, a unique opportunity to see the port cranes, ships and docks illuminated by thousands of lights. All this covered in the dark mantle of the night. I can not wait!
